Kitchen Faucets, Kitchen Faucet Leak Repair

How To Fix A Leaking Faucet With Silicone Sealant

A few months back I had some plumbing work done on the house. When the water was turned back on there was a lot of hammering and I think this was the start of my leaking tap connector.

Between the wall and tap was a solid copper pipe, so it couldn’t absorb the vibrations.

I tried using a rubber screw-on cap but because the previous person had cross threaded the outlet, even that didn’t work.

I was ok with a very slow drip but since then it’s gotten worse. Today I fixed the problem but squeezing a generous amount of silicone sealant into the rubber cap then reattaching it.

I wasn’t sure if this was going to be able to stop the water pressure but after letting it dry for roughly 4 hours it’s plugged the gaps.

I only have a hot tap but at least the vanity isn’t leaking.
