Replacing or updating your kitchen faucet is a great way to introduce new design elements to your kitchen. Today, we’re going to show you how to replace your kitchen faucet.
You’re going to need some tools to get this job done.
You’ll need:
– The new Faucet
– Basin wrench
– Adjustable wrenches
– New supply lines
– Plumber’s tape
– A work light
– A bucket
– Plumber’s putty, and a putty knife.
1. First turn off the water to make sure you don’t make a mess. Turn on the sink again to get any remaining water out.
2. Now disconnect the supply lines of the faucet from the connections on the wall. Make sure the bucket is underneath to catch any water.
3. Using a Basin Wrench, remove the hardware underneath that’s holding the faucet in place.
4. With the hardware removed and the supply lines disconnected, remove the old faucet.
5. Clean the space under the old plate if necessary.
6. Add the new plate to the mount.
This is where you will usually install the plumber’s putty around the edge of the plate. For our particular install however, we didn’t need the putty. Make sure to double check your manufacturer’s instructions in regards to the best method for installing.
7. Now attach the new supply lines to the faucet. Make sure to use plumber’s tape. For Plumber’s tape, you always want to wrap the tape around the edge in the same direction as you are turning the thread.
8. Once the plate and supply lines are in place, guide the new faucet into the hole.
9. Next, connect the mounting hardware of the new faucet to secure it underneath.
10. Then, connect the supply lines to the connections on the wall.
11. With the bucket underneath the pipes, turn the water back on. Turn the sink on to check for leaks, and adjust any pipes or lines as necessary.
12. Now enjoy your new faucet.
