In this tutorial we’re removing and replacing a mixer tap. These are the steps to remove and replace your tap:

1. If you’re replacing an old tap you’ll need to turn off the water supply to your house before removing it. Turn off the water in accordance with your heating system and water supply.
2. Run the kitchen tap to drain the water from the pipes.
3. Remove the cabinet door to get easier access to your tap.
4. Disconnect the hot and cold water supply to the old taps’ pipes.
5. Once they’re disconnected, undo the nut that holds the tap to the basin using a box spanner.
6. Once the nuts are off, lift the old tap unit out.
7. Place the new tap into the hole making sure the plastic seal is between the tap and the sink.
8. Screw the tap down to the sink from underneath.
9. Wrap some PTFE tape around the thread on the pipe before you screw on the nut to ensure a good seal.
10. Reconnect the hot and cold pipes.
11. Once reconnected, turn the water back on and turn on your new tap.
