DIY project that you can finish up in half an hour and get rid of a drip that’s costing you money and sanity. Watch this video to learn how to fix leaky showers with deal steam handles and chipped valve seats. Here’s a step by step guide with a dual stem shower:
How to Fix Shower Leaks
Step 1. Diagnose your leaky shower head to find out if the leak is caused by your hot or cold water valve.
Step 2. Shut off the water to your house and start uninstalling the valve through your shower knob. In the video, you’ll learn how to uninstall handles, which is how to access valve.
Step 3. How to Remove Valve: After you’ve learned how to remove handles, start uninstalling valves (the shower valve) to see the rubber seal and valve seat. This faucet seat is chipped (yours might be, too), and you’ll have to remove valve seat to replace it — just as easy as needing to uninstall valves!
Step 4. Make sure you have all the materials in the video to remove seat valves and reinstall a new one.
Step 5. Once the chipped valve seat and the faucet seat have been replaced, reinstall all the parts of your leaking faucet system.
Step 6. Turn your water back on and test your shower by running it. Once you turn it off, the shower leak should be gone! If it’s not, you may have more than one cause for your plumbing leak.
